January 31, 2015 Service: February 3, 2015 Edward David, 88, of Grand Rapids, MI went to be with the Lord on the evening of January 31st, 2015. He passed peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Edward was born July 28th, 1926 in Cedar Rapids, IA. He is survived by his wife Charmaine David, of 60 years, his children Michael (April) David, Mark David, and daughter Stephanie (Michael) Rowlader. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Brianna (Jon Herrema) David, Kaylee and Marissa David; Evan, Carina, and Ryan and their Mother Julie David; Maria and Michael Rowlader; siblings Donald (Phyllis) David, Delores (Russell) Colton, Richard (Marsha), Carl, brother-in-laws; Daniel (Liz) Ghareeb, Archie (Mary) Ghareeb, best friends; George Hoodhood, Eugene Karrip, and many nieces and nephews. Ed proudly served in the US Army during World War II, prior to moving to Grand Rapids and becoming your friendly neighborhood shoe repairman at Alger Heights Shoe Repair for nearly 50 years. He was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church. Ed enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and golfing. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Fulton Manor-Van Andel Pavilion for taking such good care and loving him through his last few days. A service will be held at St. George Antiochian Church, 334 LaGrave Ave, SE, Grand Rapids MI on Tuesday February 3rd at 11am. Visitation will be held at the Ofield Funeral Home, 4500 Kalamazoo Ave, SE, in Kentwood on Monday from 2-4pm and from 6-8pm with a Trisagion service at 7:30pm, visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the Church. Contributions in Ed's memory can be made to Saint George Antiochian Orthodox Church.
